- 12:00 PM1hYoga for ALL: Free Bi-Monthly Yoga SessionsPlease join us for free bi-monthly yoga classes! Grounded in breath (Pranayama) and accessible movement (Asana), with a healthy dose of meditation, this class is an opportunity to focus on the mind-body connection through a trauma-informed practice. Great for ALL bodies, ALL abilities, ALL levels. Beginners and practiced yogis welcome. Yoga mats and blocks are available as needed - just bring yourself!Mark your calendars for the 2nd and 4th Mondays from January through April! This series is free and open to all FAU students, faculty, and staff, as well as non-FAU community members.Facilitator Bios:Kayla Henriques is a 500RYT and started teaching in 2020. Her journey with shifting to a yogic perspective of the world began in 2014 on a quest to discover healing her mind and body. She began with Acro Yoga and from there became immersed in the various modalities of yoga. Her love of Yoga grew along with the learnings and support of friends and yoga teachers from across the globe and she is grateful to share the practice with any and all bodies.Amanda Kopacz is a mental health advocate, trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness teacher (ERYT-500, CMT), FAU MSW student, and all things “big feelings”. Whether she’s leading mindfulness for at-risk kids or chair yoga for local non-profits, the focus is accessible movement, grounded breath as a nervous system regulator, and self-empowered practice. She believes in honoring the traditional roots of yoga, while making it welcome for all people as a powerful practice for mental wellness.Please Note: Registration is encouraged but not required. However, spots are limited and available on a "first come, first served" basis, and priority will be given to individuals who register ahead of time. Please be sure to cancel your reservation if you are unable to attend as scheduled, so that others may reserve their spot and are able to join the class. Students here work on many exciting projects, including artificial intelligence safety, machine learning in physiology, automatic seizure detention, and virtual reality environments.Students of every discipline can join the lab to pursue their research or support their academic projects.
