- Apr 107:00 PMMusical Tales of Star-Crossed Lovers, Murder & the Rise and Fall of the City of the Sun God - FAU Symphony Orchestra and Jose LeonCelebrate the final concert of the season with the FAU Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Laura Joella, DMA. This concert will feature Musical Tales of Star-Crossed Lovers, Murder & the Rise and Fall of the City of the Sun God. Prokofiev’s passionate and heartbreaking musical suite from Romeo and Juliet will be featured alongside Bizet’s emotional and tempestuous musical suite from Carmen. The hypnotic, rhythmic drive of the music of the Funeral of Amenhotep III from Philip Glass’s opera, Akhnaten, which celebrates the rise and fall of the City of the Sun God, will conclude the concert. FAU’s own Jose Leon, DMA, will be the featured soloist in the dramatic French masterwork, Morceau Symphonique for Trombone and Orchestra by Alexandre Guilmant. Tickets $10.

She is the author of One Size Fits None: A Farm Girl's Search for the Promise of Regenerative Agriculture and From the Ground Up: The Women Revolutionizing Regenerative Agriculture. Having grown up on her family's ranch in South Dakota, she often focuses on rural life, agriculture, food, the environment, personal relationships, and animals in her writing.Andrew Furman is a professor of English at Florida Atlantic and teaches in its MFA program in creative writing. His fiction and creative nonfiction frequently engage with the Florida outdoors. He is the author, most recently, of the novels Jewfish and Goldens Are Here and the memoir Bitten: My Unexpected Love Affair with Florida, which was named a finalist for the ASLE Environmental Book Award.
