Woodward and Bernstein, both Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists and bestselling authors, changed the face of modern American journalism 50 years ago. While at The Washington Post, their investigation into the break-in of the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate office building in Washington, D.C. on June 17, 1972 eventually led to the official resignation of then-U.S. President Richard M. Nixon on Aug. 9, 1974.
Woodward is an associate editor of The Washington Post where he has worked for 50 years. He has won two Pulitzer Prizes: the first in 1973 for the coverage of the Watergate scandal with Bernstein; and the second in 2002 as the lead reporter for the Post’s coverage of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He has authored 22 national bestsellers.
Bernstein has served as the Washington bureau chief for ABC News and authored seven bestselling books.
Aronberg, state attorney for Palm Beach County, leads a team of 115 prosecutors and 180 professional staff in five offices throughout Palm Beach County. He is a former assistant attorney general, White House fellow and Florida senator.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone in South Florida to hear first-hand from two iconic Pulitzer Prize-winners about the state of American journalism and the current challenges facing American democracy,” said Jane Morgan, executive director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at FAU.
