What will the 2024 electoral map look like?

Florida Atlantic University Political Communication and Public Opinion Research Lab (PolCom Lab) and Mainstreet Research USA developed a unique dashboard that provides an unprecedented understanding of what polling data is showing during the 2024 U.S. general election.

The dashboard’s free content includes national voter intention information, electoral college projections by states, and a presidential election winner projection meter updated with the latest polling data. For $7 a month, subscribers can also dig deeper into the full data crosstabs and click through maps that project popular vote winners by congressional districts and counties across the U.S.

“This is one of the most important elections in decades, so we wanted to give people a tool that makes understanding the election a bit easier,” said Kevin Wagner, Ph.D., professor of political science and co-director of the PolCom Lab. “The dashboard gives users access to detailed data in an easy to navigate and intuitive format so they can develop a deep understanding of what voters are thinking.”

The dashboard is the latest product produced by the partnership between FAU’s PolCom Lab and Mainstreet. The two organizations launched their joint election polling partnership in May 2023 with the release of their first election poll. Since then, they have produced 18 additional polls together. The polls have not only looked at “horse race” data, but also media consumption trends and the happiness of voters.

“Our partnership fuses FAU’s extensive political science and communications expertise with our decades of experience polling across North America, as well as our experience correctly forecasting surprise victories in high-profile U.S. elections,” said Steve Pinkus, vice president of Mainstreet USA. “Our plans for high frequency polling during the remainder of this election cycle will allow us to track the twists and turns of the election in real time. Our new dashboard distills the best polling data into an easy-to-use tool that can be used by anyone interested in this historic election and represents the latest product in our amazing partnership.”
