- Dec 310:00 AMQatar: Ally, Foe, Arbitrator, and/or Islamist Global Leader?Qatar, unlike its Arab Gulf neighbors, has pursued an independent foreign policy marked by an "open-door" approach. Qatar maintains ties with all parties and regional players in the region, including organizations such as the Taliban and Hamas. Doha hosts both Hamas leadership and America’s largest bases. Qatar brokered American-Taliban talks and today is playing a mediating role among Israel, Egypt, Hamas, and the United States to broker a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas and release Israeli hostages. Whereas some countries hail Qatar’s approach to regional issues, others vilify Qatar for its support of terrorist organizations. Dr. Rabil and attendees will explore why Qatar has pursued this approach and scrutinize its ramifications for the region."Rabil is very, very good. What young folks might call "crazy good."
