Florida Atlantic 2025-26 SAAC Executive Board Announced
The Florida Atlantic 2025-26 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Executive Board was announced on Friday. Led by incoming president Bernice Chau, the executive board features six student-athletes spread amongst five different athletic teams.
Softball's Cameryn Orland has been named SAAC community service chair. A four-year member of the Owls' softball team, Orland will be a graduate student in 2025-26. In 2024 she appeared in 55 games with 53 starts at second base while being named to the AAC 2023-24 all-academic team and was an NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete for the 2023-24 school year.
Natalia Fonzetti from cheer will serve as the committee's communications chair. Fonzetti will be a junior for the 2025-26 school year and has been a member of the cheer squad since 2023. This past month, Fonzetti helped the FAU spirit team to a third-place finish at the NCA Championships for D1A Gameday Routine and a fifth-place finish in the in the Intermediate Small Coed Division 1A.
The department's social media chair will be softball's Yani Guzman. A senior for the 2025-26 school year, Guzman has been a member of the softball team since 2022. As a sophomore, she was a part of the squad that won the University's first American Athletic Conference regular season championship. She has seen a career high in playing time during the 2025 season and is currently batting .324 with 11 hits and 12 runs.
The co-vice president/secretary is men's cross country's Enrique Toro. The soon-to-be junior in 2024-25 Toro has been a member of the squad since 2023. Toro has been extremely active in the FAU community, attending every Red-Blue Game, participating in every social media campaign this year, and being active in community service. Toro also represented Florida Atlantic at the American Athletic Symposium, where he served on a panel.
The second co-vice president/treasurer is swimming and diving's Payne Smith. An upcoming senior in the fall, Smith has been an Owl since 2022. This past year, Smith was a contributor to the Owls' runners-up finish at the ASUN conference championships. He was also a recipient of the 2022-23 C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and 2022-23 C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal.
The 2025-26 SAAC president is dance's Chau. An upcoming senior in 2025-26, Chau has been an Owl dancer since 2022. In November, she was named Prestige Window Student-Athlete of the Month. In April, she was a part of the FAU spirit team to a third-place finish at the NCA Championships for D1A Gameday Routine.
