Florida Atlantic Announces Additional Hagerty Family Gift
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic Vice President and Director of Athletics Brian White announced Thursday another significant gift commitment from Michelle and Michael Hagerty to further support the Owls' Hagerty Athletics Village.
This most recent contribution, which supplements the Hagerty's initial transformational gift to the Hagerty Athletics Village complex in December of 2022, is earmarked to further support projects within the village.
"We are so fortunate for the continued kindness and generosity of Michelle and Michael Hagerty to Florida Atlantic Athletics," said White. "This additional gift will impact nearly all our 450 student-athletes by renovating and upgrading the facilities we use to compete, train, recover and learn at the highest level. On behalf of the Department of Athletics, we extend our gratitude to the Hagerty's and thank them for their support of our mission."
Previous projects within the Hagerty Athletics Village have included an on-going renovation to the Tom Oxley Center, which serves as the hub for all FAU sports except football. That project includes a complete overhaul of the grand lobby, interior and exterior aesthetic upgrades, along with renovations to the Olympic sports weight room, student-athlete lounge, team video room, athletic training room, individual sport areas.
The gifts have also provided for other significant enhancements within the village to include the installation of a new running track at the Hagerty Family Track & Field Complex, aesthetic improvements and the addition of state-of-the-art LED lighting inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena, the reconstruction and expansion of five competition courts at the FAU Beach Volleyball Complex and assisted with the completion of the Baseball Performance Center.
"We truly appreciate this additional gift from our friends Michelle and Michael Hagerty to enhance our athletic facilities," said FAU President Stacy Volnick. "Their generosity is making a tremendous impact at Florida Atlantic, helping our student-athletes reach their full potential and propelling our athletic programs to new heights."
Long-time benefactors to Florida Atlantic, the Hagerty's initial gift to athletics came in August of 2021 to name the head football coach position, now known as the Hagerty Family Head Football Coach. In addition to their philanthropic support of athletics, the Hagerty Family has championed other essential projects for athletics, along with generously supporting the department's NIL initiatives.
Florida Atlantic's athletic facilities included in the Hagerty Family Athletics Village include the track and related facilities, known as the Hagerty Family Track and Field Complex; the Tom Oxley Athletic Center; Abessinio Court at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena; Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center; FAU Swimming Facility; FAU Softball Stadium; FAU Soccer Stadium; FAU Baseball Stadium; and FAU Beach Volleyball Complex.
