When beginning this journey, there are often many questions about where to start. This workshop will focus on the key beginning components of establishing your own psychotherapy practice. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the legal, ethical, regulatory, and business components involved with starting a private practice. He has worked in the field as an educator, administrator/practice owner, clinician, and clinical supervisor for nearly 30 years. He earned his MSW at the University of Pennsylvania, his Master’s of Healthcare Administration (MHA) from St. Joseph’s University, and his PhD in Human Sexuality from the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco.His areas of clinical practice include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, couples/family therapy, substance use disorders, and sex therapy. He has published in the areas of family and couples therapy as well as sex therapy and multiculturally competent practice. In addition, he frequently provides business consultation services to clinicians starting and maintaining their private practices.

- 1:00 PM1hAs It Was: the show that never happenedAs It Was will include a juried selection of artworks from students who received their BA, BFA, or MFA between the Spring 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters, during which they were unable to have an in-person graduate exhibition due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Students continued to make exceptional art throughout this time which was only able to be viewed through online exhibitions. The BFA, BA, and graduate programs are dedicated to preparing practicing studio artists for advanced study and a career in art, which includes the chance to install and showcase their work. The exhibition, curated by BFA graduates Natalie Luong and Paris Valladares, will include work from areas of printmaking, ceramics, photography, painting and mixed media.

- 4:00 PM1hFrontiers in Science: with Nichole LighthallJoin Assistant Professor of Psychology, University of Central Florida , Nichole Lighthall, Ph.D., for "To Trust or Distrust: How Social Decision-Making Changes Across Adulthood."Reports of fraud and scams targeting older adults have raised concerns about how aging impacts decision making involving the trustworthiness of social partners, as well as news and social media. My talk will provide an overview of the factors that may drive age-related changes to decision making involving social partners and social communication. These key factors include changes to learning and memory, social cognition, and emotions.
