The virtual training, presented in 3, 4-hour days (total of 12 hours) is interactive and dynamic and encourages participants to take an active role in their learning.Learning Objectives:1. Become familiar with the major models of supervision for clinical social work, marriage and family therapy or mental health counseling. 2. Gain skills to develop a personal model of supervision, drawn from existing models of supervision and from preferred styles of therapy. 3. Understand the co-evolving dynamics of therapist-client and supervisor-therapist-client relationships. 4. Explore distinctive issues that arise in supervision. 5. Address the contextual variables in practice such as culture, gender, ethnicity, power and economics. 6. Become familiar with the ethical, legal and regulatory issues of supervision. 7. Review the Florida laws and the board rules governing interns and supervision. 8. Understand the role of evaluation in supervision.About the Presenter:Dr. Patricia Temes is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Qualified Supervisor in the State of Florida, with ample experience supervising both new and seasoned professionals from very diverse social work backgrounds. She is a proud FAU Sandler School of Social Work MSW alumni, and earned her Ph.D. from the FAU College of Education. For the past 6 years, she has collaborated with other Field Faculty to facilitate the Field Instructor Supervisory Training for the FAU Sandler School of Social Work.As an LCSW, Dr. Temes has provided mental health services to children, adults, the elderly, and families in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Her experience in health care includes serving individuals living with HIV through Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC), as well as supporting mental health patients in inpatient psychiatric facilities. Dr. Temes’ passion for international social work has led to community engagement and development projects in both Brazil and Ireland, where she has participated in research, organized local events, and taught study abroad courses.

View the floor image of the dance of caring persons and enter the doors to the inner courtyard.Description: It’s Valentine’s Day, and while love can take many forms, one of the most important and nourishing types of love that we can practice is self-love. Join Dr. Raquel Brown for an intentional discussion on labyrinths, and how this ancient practice can help us prioritize self-love and self-compassion. Labyrinths are used across many cultures to practice mindfulness and meditation. Attendees will receive a brief introduction on the history and health benefits of labyrinths, as well as guidance on how to set intentions and navigate a labyrinth. Then, individuals will be free to walk the labyrinth at their pace, and use this meditative activity as an opportunity to slow down, be present, set intentions, and gain perspective.Important Note: This event is free but non-FAU community members must register and pay for parking.
