OIT Systems Maintenance
Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks between 9/10/2024 and 9/13/2024 from 12:01 AM to 7:00 AM. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:
BHRIC VMware server updates
Description of change: Research computing will be performing maintenance on https://vdi.fau.edu
Downtime window start: 09/10/2024 9:00 PM
Downtime window end: 09/10/2024 11:00 PM
Affected services: VDI
End-user impact: During this time, VDI environment will be offline. This would impact users needing to use the BHRIC VMware environment.
Wireless certificate update
Description of change: OIT will be renewing the certificates used for Wireless on September 10th. As a result of this change, users may be prompted to accept a new certificate when they access FAUWPA2 or Eduroam for the first time following the certificate renewal.

End-user impact: This will affect all campuses where wireless is available. Users will be prompted to accept the new certificate.
Duo Notification Changes
Description of change: OIT will be activating additional notifications for Duo. These notifications will send additional information to users whenever the Duo settings are updated or changed.

Affected services: DUO MFA
End-user impact: Most of these changes will have no expected end-user impact. However, the changes to notification settings will cause users to receive new communications if their Duo devices are changed or modified in the portal.
BHRIC Server maintenance
Description of change: Research Computing will be performing maintenance on the BHRIC server

End-user impact: There should be very minimal end user impact, however, I/O could be slow.
Banner Maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be performing maintenance on Banner from 12:00 a.m. until 7:00 a.m. on Thursday 1st August. Banner will not be available during this time to allow the Ellucian support team to install the updates.

End-user impact: All end users of Banner will be impacted.
Server Maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be doing maintenance on Thursday, September 12th. There should be no user impact.

Affected services: Any service running on Kubernetes. There should be no end user impact as there are two other control planes for potential failover.
End-user impact: No end-user impact is expected.
Update to Canvas Tools
Description of change: OIT will be performing updates to the following Canvas Tools which will include some style changes to match other University site as well as some performance improvements and bug fixes: User Management, Course Management, Observer Management. We will also be installing one new Application, Course Links, that will give us the ability to put external links in Course menus upon request.

End-user impact: Each application will be unavailable momentarily as the files are being updated.
EZ Advising – Adding new logic for college of science
Description of change: OIT is implementing new logic in EZ Advising to direct students with specific attributes to the appropriate college advising services.
